As part of our English unit on environmental issues, sustainability and global responsibility, the
students of Year 11, Class C, developed group speaking projects on some of the most urgent
environmental challenges facing our world today.
The presentations focused on topics such as pollution, waste and public health, climate
change, biodiversity loss, deforestation, sustainable lifestyles, consumerism, food systems,
energy transition and the future of technology. Each student was responsible for a specific
subtopic and presented it orally to the class.
Following these speaking projects, students created individual posters based on the topics
they had presented. The aim was to consolidate knowledge, select the most important
information, use environmental vocabulary effectively and communicate a clear message
through visual language.
Each poster had to include a clear headline, two or three key ideas, one example or fact, a
solution or opinion, and a call to action. Students were encouraged to use short sentences,
keywords and visual elements, so that their posters could work as awareness-raising
materials.
This work allowed students to develop important language skills, as well as creativity and
critical thinking. Only a selection of posters was chosen for the blog, taking into account the
clarity of the message, the relevance of the topic, the visual impact and the variety of
environmental issues represented.
This project is also connected to the celebration of Sir David Attenborough’s 100th
birthday. For decades, Attenborough’s documentaries have helped audiences around the
world discover the beauty, complexity and fragility of life on Earth. His work reminds us that
understanding nature is an essential step towards protecting it.
We hope that this small action encourages our school community to reflect on the
impact of human actions and the importance of more sustainable choices. We also invite
you to visit the school library and see the full collection on display there.
Our planet. Our future. Our responsibility.
